I’ve always been drawn to painting water, whether in gouache or oils. Although water is often transparent, I’ve long enjoyed the challenge of depicting it using opaque mediums and capturing its movement, light, and reflections.
If you’d like to learn how to paint rivers, seas, and other watery landscapes, this workshop is for you. I’ll demonstrate some of the techniques I use, share tips and tricks, and discuss common pitfalls to avoid. We’ll be working in gouache, a medium I find particularly well suited to building up colour, atmosphere, and the ever-changing qualities of water.
Suitable for painters of all experience levels, this workshop will focus on using reference images and injecting our imagination and intuition.
